Description

Roughton Cottage is a 17th century timber-framed cottage built on a sandstone plinth, with brick infill panels. It features a plain tile roof with gabled ends and is one storey high with an attic, presenting a two-window range. The cottage has 19th century two-light casements with glazing bars and two plank doors. A large external chimney stack made of sandstone and brick is located at the northeast end and includes a bread oven, while there are internal stacks at the southwest end. An attic window is positioned in the gable end, facing away from the road. Inside, there is a moulded fireplace and a bressumer.
