Roughton House is an 18th-century building constructed of red brick. It stands three storeys high and features two sash windows, a central Venetian window, and a round-headed window above, all with plain surrounds. The entrance is marked by a moulded wood half-round Tuscan pilastered doorcase that has an open pediment and a traceried fanlight. There is an early 19th-century canopied verandah with an inswept leaded roof and French casements on the ground floor. The house has a steep hipped tiled roof and wide spreading eaves.
