Description
This is a pair of chest tombs located approximately 20 metres southeast of the Church of Saint Andrew. They date from the mid-to-late 18th century and are made of yellow/grey sandstone. Each tomb features a moulded plinth, baluster-shaped sides and ends, and a moulded cornice on the flat top. The southern tomb is inscribed to Thomas Wingfield, who died in January 1762, while the inscription on the northern tomb was largely illegible at the time of the survey in January 1987. Both tombs exhibit an unusual design.
