Barn, now partly garaging, and attached courtyard wall. Early C18. Red brick with plain tile and slate roof. Two storeys, over semi-basement to south-east. High stepped plinth, dentil brick eaves cornice and parapeted gable ends with chamfered sandstone copings, moulded at feet. South-west front: two boarded loft doors, three pairs of depressed-arched large boarded double doors to left; four tiers of ventilation slits to right; segmental- headed stable door to probable former cow house in semi-basement to right. Right-hand corner rounded up to loft level. Gable ends with tiers of ventilation slits and segmental-headed boarded loft doors, that to south-east blocked. Rear: four tiers of ventilation slits; rounded corners, corbelled out to angle at loft level above. Interior not inspected but chamfered beams noted. Courtyard wall adjoining to south-west; red brick with red sandstone coping; approximately 15 metres long and 2 metres high; pair of boarded wooden gates to courtyard at south-west end. The barn and wall form two sides of a service courtyard to the north-west of Ford House (qv), also including a stable block (qv) and dovecote (qv). V.C.H., Vol. VIII, p.226.
