Description
The barns located approximately 10 metres to the south-west of Lower Farm House are two disused structures dating from the late 17th century, with a mid to late 19th century addition to the south-east. They feature a weatherboarded timber frame set on a coursed limestone rubble plinth, with coursed limestone end walls to the south-west. The barns currently have a temporary polythene roof as of July 1984. The layout consists of seven framed bays, with an additional framed bay to the south-east, creating an L-plan. There is a carriageway through the fourth bay from the north-east. The framing consists of square panels with tension braces. On the south-west front, there is a boarded door to the right, and a 19th century lean-to to the left that includes two windows and one boarded door. Inside, the barns feature queen-strut trusses with V-struts above the collar, and there is an inserted late 19th century machine-sawn king-post truss in the second bay from the north-east.
