Description
The Hotchkiss Memorial is a chest tomb located approximately 1.5 metres south of the nave of the Church of St Mary. It dates from around 1830 to 1840 and is made of sandstone ashlar. The tomb features a cavetto-moulded plinth, free-standing shaped corner balusters with flanking quadrant corners, divided sunken side panels, and a cornice leading to a chamfered top. It commemorates Thomas Miles, who died in 1833, John Hotchkiss, who died in 1837, and Jane Hotchkiss, who died in 1855. The top of the tomb was damaged at the time of the survey in November 1984.
