Description

The limekilns, now disused, date from around 1806 and are constructed from a mix of red brick and uncoursed sandstone rubble. There are four round-arched kilns. These kilns were associated with the Prees branch of the Ellesmere Canal, which was originally planned to extend to Prees Higher Heath but instead ended at Quina Brook, where a wharf was built around the same time.
