Description
Park Gate House is a cottage dating from the 17th century, with later additions and alterations. It features roughcast that conceals a timber frame on a rendered plinth and has a slate roof. The building is one storey with an attic and consists of two framed bays. On the ground floor, there are two mid-20th century casements, with contemporary flat-roofed dormers directly above them in the slope of the roof. The position of a former doorway and gabled porch can be seen in the center of the facade. Internal red brick end stacks are present, along with exposed single-purlin ends on both the left and right sides. The entrance is now through a 20th-century panelled door located at the left gable end. Although the interior has not been inspected, it is noted to have timber framed square panels on the left gable end and on internal cross-walls, including one that runs along the axis of the house. The interior also features chamfered spine beams and joists, as well as rebuilt inglenook fireplaces. A late 19th century or 20th century roughcast lean-to on the left gable end is not considered to have special architectural interest.
