Description
The Cottage is a squatter's cottage from the 18th century or later. It is timber-framed with painted brick infilling and has a corrugated iron roof, which may be covering thatch, along with a brick stack at the left end of the ridge. The building is a single storey with an attic only at the right end. There is one eyebrow dormer on the right and two casement windows on the ground floor. The framing features long horizontal panels, with the rear infilling left unpainted.
Inside, there is a rafter roof made of thin scantling with queen struts supporting the principal rafters and staggered purlins. A fire-hood is present at the eastern end of the cottage, which is timber-framed and plastered. The existence of the fire-hood is very rare for this period, and it is the reason for the cottage's listing.
