Description
The Smithy is a disused smithy, now in working order, dating from the mid- to late 19th century with later alterations. It is constructed of red brick and features a slate roof with a ridge stack located to the left of center and a truncated end stack on the right. The building is single-storey with a dentilled eaves cornice. On the right side, there are fixed-light windows, including a large one that has glass replacing the original 19th-century shutters. To the left of center, there is a plank door. At the rear, the position of the horse's entrance is marked by a fixed-light window and a re-used panelled door that has replaced the original double doors. Inside, the smithy retains its furnace with hand-operated bellows, an anvil, and a complete set of blacksmith's tools.
