Description

The Tudor House is a house that has been converted into a shop. It dates from the early 17th century and was remodeled in 1905. The building features planted timbers with plastered infill over a timber frame, set on a painted sandstone plinth, and has a plain-tile roof. It has a baffle entry plan with two framed bays and stands two storeys high. The barge boards are decorated with incised ornament, have pierced feet, and finials. There is a central 19th-century brick ridge stack.

On the south-west front, there are a pair of first-floor three-light 19th-century wooden casements and a ground-floor canted bay to the right. The central entrance features an early 20th-century boarded door with a diamond-leaded overlight and a gabled porch supported by octagonal wooden posts. The porch has a Tudor archway with a date in the spandrels, planted timbers in the gable, and incised barge boards. The shop front extends around the corner to the left, featuring a lean-to roof, plate glass windows, and a boarded door set at an angle at the corner. The left-hand return front has a projecting gable, a small two-light attic casement with diamond leading, and a first-floor small-paned wooden casement. At the rear, there is an early 19th-century two-storey painted brick wing.

Inside, there are pairs of ground-floor ovolo-moulded spine beams with ogee stops. The 17th-century framing is exposed, including a jowl post and tie beam, and the roof features wind braces.
