Description
This house, later divided into three cottages, likely dates from the 17th century, although it was re-faced and had its eaves raised in the early 19th century. Further additions and alterations were made in the mid-19th century. The main part of the building is constructed of brown brick, possibly over a timber frame, while a later extension to the right is of purple brick. It has a plain tiled roof, with a prominent brick ridge stack on the left, a smaller one on the right, and a slightly projecting stack to the right-hand gable end.
The original part of the house probably featured three bays, with a three-window front. All windows are mid-19th-century casements with three lights, raised plastered lintels, and projecting keystones. The doors are also mid-19th century, including a boarded door on the left and a six-panelled door located between the second and third bays from the left. A mid-19th-century addition has a multi-paned bay window at ground floor level and a boarded door to the right. Exposed purlins are visible on the left-hand gable end, and two-storied mid-19th-century additions extend at right angles to the rear.
Inside, a ground floor room on the left contains a chamfered spine beam with straight-cut stops and an inglenook fireplace. In the yard to the rear, there is a late 19th-century cast iron pump and a stone basin.
