Group Of 2 Headstones Approximately 1 Metre East Of Chancel Of Church Of St Peter

This is a group of two headstones located approximately 1 metre east of the chancel of the Church of St Peter in Coreley, dating from the early 18th century. Both headstones are made of sandstone ashlar. The headstone to the north features a slab with a curved top, which has an incised carved skull and crossed bones above the inscription. It commemorates Abigail Beeston, who died in 1724 and was the daughter of Rev John Rusbatch. The headstone to the south is a rectangular slab with rounded edges, adorned with incised festoon ornamentation above the inscriptions, which are only partially legible. This headstone commemorates Rev Rusbatch and his family. John Rusbatch served as the rector of the parish starting in 1658, and Samuel Rusbatch held the position from 1668 to 1733.
