Description

This is a short section of wall and a gate pier that adjoins Longner Hall to the north, built around 1803 by John Nash. The structure is made of red sandstone ashlar and is designed in the Tudor Gothic style. It measures approximately 4 metres long and 4 metres high, featuring a plinth and a string course beneath a battlemented coping. The front of the wall has a chamfered recessed Latin cross. To the right is an octagonal gate pier, which has a battlemented parapet topped with a pyramidal cap and a globe finial. The grounds of Longner were landscaped by Humphry Repton around 1803-1804, and his Red Book is kept in the house.
