Description

Gates to The Quarry, dated 1881, were created for the Shrewsbury Horticultural Society. They are made of cast and wrought iron, featuring central double gates and side gates positioned between heavy piers. The piers have traceried panels adorned with the Salop arms and topped with crocketed caps. The main gates are elaborately designed with heavy panels that include roundels. To the left, there is a smaller outer gate with barbed iron shafts and scrolled decoration. These gates were cast at Coalbrookdale and bear the initials SHS, representing the Shrewsbury Horticultural Society.
