Description
The Churchyard Cross, located about 5 meters south-east of the chancel of the Church of St. Giles, is a medieval structure, likely from the 14th or 15th century. It is made of sandstone and consists of a shaft and a socket stone. The shaft stands approximately 4 meters high and is very weathered with a significant split down the middle. At the top, the shaft broadens to support the cross head. The square socket stone is plain with chamfered corners. Originally, the cross head featured a depiction of the Crucifixion on one side and two saints on the other, but it was removed in the late 19th century due to safety concerns, and its current location is unknown. There is also a tradition that the cross once stood in the road.
