Description

The kitchen garden walls, archways, and attached cottages located approximately 120 meters north of Boreatton Hall date from the late 18th century and feature some minor later additions and alterations. The walls are constructed of red brick with sandstone ashlar coping, and the south side of the southern wall has a facing of regularly coursed and dressed red sandstone blocks. The main enclosure includes segmental-headed sandstone ashlar arches on both the north and south sides. At the entrance to the southern enclosure, there are cottages made of red brick with shallow pyramidal slate roofs topped with ball finials, arranged in a square plan. The left cottage features a wooden mullioned and transomed window with a plain stone wedge lintel at the front, while the right cottage has a similar infilled window. The inner returns of the cottages have a segmental-headed boarded door with a glazing bar sash directly above it. The left cottage also has an integral lateral stack on the left side. A 19th-century addition attached to the left cottage is not considered to have special architectural interest.
