Description

Platt Mill Bridge is a bridge built in 1791 by Edward Cureton, who was both the designer and contractor. It is constructed from regularly coursed and dressed red sandstone rubble. The bridge features twin segmental-headed arches with voussoirs and a stepped cutwater. There is a flat string course that slightly rises to the center, and it has circular corner piers. The long wing walls also end in circular corner piers. On the west side, there is a small pierced flood arch. The bridge spans the River Perry and is shown on the Ordnance Survey map as Platt Bridge.
