Description

A stable and granary, dating from the mid-18th century with additions in the early to mid-19th century. The building is constructed of red brick with a 20th-century concrete tile roof. The stable block is adjoined to the west by a granary. It is a single-storey structure with a loft. The south front has a plat band to the right and a weathervane to the left-hand gable end. The stable has two fixed windows with two lights each, the left one featuring a segmental head. A central, segmental-headed double-leaf boarded door sits in the center of the stable, while two pairs of 20th-century boarded garage doors occupy the former granary to the left. The left-hand gable end includes an external dog-leg staircase with stone-coped brick walls, leading up to a segmental-headed boarded loft door with a segmental-headed window to the left. A ground-floor segmental-headed boarded door is located to the right. A gabled semi-dormer with a boarded hoist loft door is situated at the rear of the stable. The stable and granary are prominently positioned by the roadside, adjacent to Golding. The buildings are included on the list for their group value.
