Description
The Crown Inn is a public house that was originally two dwellings, built in 1725 with later alterations made in 1870 and 1876. It is constructed of brick and features a plain tiled roof. The building has two storeys and an attic, with a five-window range. The central entrance consists of double doors set within a segmental arch, which has a keystone that was added in 1870. This entrance is flanked by four-pane sash windows that have flat-arched gauged brick heads and moulded keystones. One of the upper windows features the initials B over JM on its keystone. The building has angle quoins, plain eaves, and two ornate pedimented gabled dormers that have flanking ball finials. These dormers, along with the stacks, were added in 1876. No. 28 Abbey Foregate, which adjoins the inn, is now also part of The Crown Inn.
