Description
The Former National Westminster Bank is a large early 19th-century red brick house located on the south side of High Street. It features a Welsh slate roof with stone coping on the gable ends, a blocking course, and a moulded cornice. The building stands three storeys tall and has a 2:1:3 bay arrangement. The sash windows include glazing bars, with the central left windows on the first and second floors framed in moulded architraves. The first floor has a fluted frieze and cornice, along with a window cill band. On the ground floor, there are two large three-light windows supported by fluted pilasters, set beneath a slightly cambered arch. The central entrance is a pilastered doorcase topped with a broken pediment on fluted brackets, featuring a traceried semi-circular fanlight and a panelled door.
