Description

A row of four houses dating from around 1800, located on Abbey Foregate in Shrewsbury. The buildings are constructed of brick with plain tiled roofs. They form a three-storey, five-window terrace, with three single-unit plan houses and one two-unit plan, built along a sharp curve. Each house has a front door, with paired doors to the central dwellings and single doors to the outer houses, all set within moulded architraves with panelled rebates. Windows are sash windows; Nos 48 and 49 have 12 panes, while Nos 46 and 47 have 16 panes, all with flat-arched stuccoed surrounds. The building has plain oversailing eaves and gables with moulded kneelers. A large chimney stack runs centrally. The buildings are of group value.
