Description

This is a late 16th or early 17th century house, later remodelled in the early 19th century and now used as a shop. The building is timber-framed and rendered, with the render imitating the appearance of ashlar. It has a plain tile roof. The front of the building features small square timber framing panels and a single framed bay. It is two storeys high with an attic.

The first floor is jettied, with a rendered bracket visible to the left. The original moulded bressumer is believed to survive behind the shop fascia. There is a large eaves dormer with a three-light wooden-framed window containing metal casements. An integral brick end stack, rebuilt above the roof around 1900, is on the right side. The first floor has an early 19th century paired sash window with glazing bars. The shop window is early 19th century, consisting of a small-paned square bay (with 7 x 4 panes of glass) and has C20 tiling beneath. There are three steps leading up to a half-glazed door located to the left.

Inside, both floors feature pairs of chamfered beams and plain joists. There are chamfered corner posts at the rear left corner, and exposed square-panel framing. It is speculated that the building may have originally been part of a continuous jettied range that also included number 13, though the intervening structure has since been rebuilt.
