Description
Nos. 52 and 53 is a house that dates from the 17th or 18th century. It is constructed of yellow sandstone rubble with roughcast, featuring a timber-frame and plaster design. The roof is thatched and has a gable facing the road, with a rubble ridge stack and a brick stack on the right side. The building has a three-bay plan and is single-storey with an attic, presenting a single-window range.
On the exterior, there is a 19th-century three-light casement window in a moulded case, and an eyebrow dormer with a 20th-century two-light casement. A 20th-century rubble gabled porch has a plain tile roof and leaded side lights. To the right, there is a rubble lean-to. The left side features a late 19th-century two-light casement window set in a quoined blue brick case with a segmental arch. The rear of the building is roughcast and includes a 20th-century casement window and a single-storey outshut added in the 20th century. The interior has not been inspected.
