Description

The former Smithfield Inn is an early 19th-century house, which was used as an inn when surveyed. It is constructed of painted brick with a Welsh slate roof and a brick stack to the rear. The building has an L-shaped plan and a cellar, extending over two storeys and originally featuring a three-window front. The front windows are 6/6 sashes, topped by grooved stucco lintels, with brick gable parapets. The central entrance now has a 20th-century half-glazed door, sheltered by a moulded wooden flat hood supported by plain pilasters. To the left of the entrance are two 6/6 sashes, and to the right, one. The left return side features a two-light casement under a soldier arch, above another two-light casement set within a segmental arch.

A rear wing has a hipped Welsh slate roof and a central brick stack. It contains a 20th-century six-panel door under a segmental arch and a four-light window with stone mullions and a scrolled pediment.
