Description
No. 19 is a schoolmaster's house, now part of a larger house, built in the mid-19th century. It is constructed from snecked irregularly dressed brown sandstone and features a plain tile roof. The building has two storeys, a chamfered plinth, and deep eaves, with an integral stone and brick end stack on the right side. The front has two windows, each with two-light small-paned wooden casements that have stone cills and lintels. There are three stone steps leading up to a central six-panelled door, which has the lower two panels flush and the top four recessed. This door is framed by an architrave and supported by tall-shaped brackets that hold up an open triangular-pedimented hood. To the right of the house, there is a one-storey outbuilding. The interior has not been inspected. This house is part of a larger structure that includes the former Free School, which is located to the south-west and is prominent in the village. The building is included for its group value.
