Description
A rectory, dating to the early 19th century and incorporating an earlier structure, now divided into three houses. The exterior is painted render and brick, with low-pitched slate roofs featuring graduated slates to the rear and deep eaves with coupled brackets. The roofs are gabled at the front and hipped at the rear. Integral brick ridge stacks and projecting brick eaves stacks are located on the east and west sides. The building has an L-shape plan, with later extensions to the east and infill extensions to the north.
The south front has a central two-storey, three-window range with 3/3 sash windows on the first floor and two 6/6 sashes on the ground floor. Flanking the central range are advanced bays with two 6/6 sashes each, topped by pedimented gables with coupled modillioned crown mouldings. The ground-floor sashes are tall with low sills and have carved wood upper sash hoods. The east return features a 6/6 sash window and a two-storey service wing with 20th-century casement windows. The west entrance front has four 6/6 sashes on the first floor, a central, partly projecting Doric portico with pilastered sides and two columns under a flat entablature, a panelled door with side lights and a fanlight with radial glazing bars. A renewed 6/6 sash window is located to the left of the portico, while the portico is flanked by partly projecting stacks. The remaining sides are largely obscured by late 19th and 20th-century extensions.
The interior of the main ground-floor rooms features moulded cornices and dado rails, along with moulded six-panelled doors. A hall contains a helical staircase with a curtail step and wrought-iron balustrade with cast lead details, and a rotunda top light. The front room has a Doric moulded cornice, a coffered ceiling with a figurative centre moulding, and projecting door heads. The grounds are believed to have been landscaped by Capability Brown.
