Description
The Old Post Office is a house that was formerly a post office, dating from the early 18th century with 20th-century alterations and additions. It is constructed of painted brick in Flemish stretcher bond and features a plain tile roof. The building has two storeys and a gable-lit attic, with a chamfered plinth, a plat band, a brick eaves cornice with moulded dentils, and a parapeted gable end. There are two brick stacks located on the gabled wing at the rear.
The front of the building has four windows, with wooden cross-casements that are segmental-headed on the ground floor. There is a blocked door situated between the first and second windows from the right. The left-hand cornice was rebuilt in the 20th century. The left-hand return front includes a dentil cornice that continues around at eaves level, a two-light attic window, cross-casements on the first and ground floors, and a 20th-century recessed porch to the left with a glazed door. Additionally, there is a 20th-century addition at the rear that features an external lateral brick stack. The interior has not been inspected.
