Description

This is a terrace of six houses, now shops, built in the early 19th century. Later additions and alterations have been made. The building is constructed of rendered brick, with a slate roof largely hidden by a coped parapet. There are two stacks behind the parapet, positioned centrally. The terrace is three storeys high and features a moulded eaves cornice and coupled pilasters that divide each tenement. The fourth house from the left has paterae and rosettes to the capital of its pilasters. The front of the building has six windows, mostly with glazing bar sashes. The window on the second floor of the fourth house from the left has a moulded architrave; the windows to the right on the same floor are blind. The shop front of No. 5 is from the late 19th century, while Nos. 1, 3, 7 and 9 have 20th-century shop fronts. A round-arched passageway is situated on the left-hand side. The terrace is built on a curve where Leg Street meets Beatrice Street.
