Description

This is a range of farm buildings, including an implement shed, stable, dovecote, and smithy, located in the farmyard to the northeast of Boscobel House. The buildings date from the early to mid-19th century and are constructed of red brick with plain tiled roofs. They form an irregular line along the northeast side of the farmyard.

The implement shed features three open bays supported by round-edged brick piers. The stable, located to the right, has brick dentilled eaves and is accessed by external steps at the right gable end. Set back and attached by a wall is a lower range that includes the dovecote on the left and three doors, one of which leads to a small, fully equipped smithy. The smithy is illuminated from the gable end facing southeast and contains all necessary tools, a furnace, and a chimney with two sets of bellows attached to the wall.

Most of these buildings are believed to have been constructed by Walter Evans shortly after he acquired Boscobel House in 1811. The farm buildings, with the exception of a 20th-century brick implement shed with wooden posts at the northwest end of the range, are included for their group value with Boscobel House.
