Description
This chest tomb, made of ashlar, is located 2 metres south of the vestry of the Church of St Andrew in Hope Bowdler. It dates from the early 19th century and features a flat lid with a moulded edge. The side and end panels are plain and inscribed, with plain corner piers and a plain plinth that is recessed below the panels. The tomb commemorates Elizabeth, the wife of Amos Mawn, who died in 1831. Additionally, it incorporates a reused memorial on the north side panel that commemorates Mary, the wife of William Preen, who died in 1715.
