Description
Courtyard Cottage is an agricultural building that has been converted into a house. It dates back to the 17th century and was restored in the 20th century. The structure features an unpainted timber frame with brick infill panels and painted rendered panels on a coursed rubble plinth, along with brick and coursed rubble gable ends. The roof is covered with plain tiles and the building has a rectangular plan consisting of two framed bays that run parallel to the street.
The exterior is a single storey. The street-facing side has four 20th-century oak-framed casements on the ground floor, set within unpainted square framing that consists of three panels high, supported by a single straight tension brace. The rear side has painted square framing that is also three panels high, featuring a central 20th-century boarded door flanked by one 20th-century oak-framed casement on each side. The south gable end has a restored truss with a straight tie beam, vertical struts, a collar, and twin raking struts, along with a single 20th-century casement. The interior has not been inspected.
