Description
Morris' Bridge is a canal lift bridge located on the Shropshire Union Canal in Whixall, Shropshire. It was likely built around 1800 and has undergone later repairs. The bridge is part of William Jessop's and Thomas Telford's Ellesmere Canal, which was constructed between 1797 and 1804. This wooden bascule bridge operates using a counterweight and chain system. The Ellesmere Canal Company merged with the Chester Canal Company in 1813 and became part of the Shropshire Union in 1846.
