Description
Nos. 5 and 6, including the outbuildings to the rear, are a pair of attached estate cottages built in the early to mid-19th century. They are constructed of red brick and feature a clay plain tile hipped roof with brick axial stacks. The cottages are designed with a two-room plan and have integral outshuts at the rear, along with detached outhouses situated behind.
The exterior is single-storey with a symmetrical four-window northwest front. The 19th-century two-light windows have iron casements with glazing bars and simple brick hoodmoulds. At the rear, the roof extends down as a catslide over the integral outshuts, which have small windows. There are doorways on both the right and left sides, featuring cambered brick arches and plank doors. The detached brick outhouses, which include wash houses, stores, and pig sties, are also made of red brick, have gable-ended plain tile roofs, gable end stacks, and plank doors.
The interior is said to have plank doors and simple chimneypieces.
