Description
No. 24 Cross Street is a house that was later used as a bank and is now a building society. It was built around 1830-1840 and has undergone some later additions and alterations. The building is made of rendered brick and features chamfered angle quoins. It has a slate roof with an external end stack on the right side.
The structure is two storeys high with an attic and has a moulded eaves cornice. The front has three windows, which are glazing bar sashes with horns set in moulded architraves. The centre window is blind and features a moulded entablature, along with panel and corner drums. There are two flat-roofed eaves dormers.
The 19th-century bank front includes a moulded entablature, pilasters, and six-panel double doors with a latticed overlight to the right. This front was altered in the late 20th century.
