Gates, Gate Piers And Flanking Walls Approximately 170 Metres To South West Of Peplow Hall

The gates, gate piers, and flanking walls located approximately 170 metres to the south-west of Peplow Hall date from around 1725 and were created by Jones of Wrexham. They were likely restored in the late 19th century. The structure features a pair of grey sandstone ashlar square piers that include red brick panels. Each pier has a moulded plinth, frieze, and cornice, topped with a large urn finial that displays a crest. The wrought-iron gates and standards consist of central carriage gates adorned with spearhead dog bars, dog rails, and top rails that ramp up to the centre, featuring scrolled crestings. There are also flanking pedestrian gates with similar spearhead dog bars, dog rails, and a ramped top rail with scrolled crestings. Four standards display scrolled panels and crestings. The brick quadrant flanking walls have chamfered copings that ramp up to the centre, with square end piers capped by pyramidal stone. The gates are aligned to the south-west entrance front of Peplow Hall.
