Description

Slip Farmhouse is a mid-17th century farmhouse that has been converted into a house. It features a timber frame with plastered infill panels and a 20th-century concrete tile roof. The framing consists of square panels, with three panels extending from the sole plate to the wall plate, supported by short corner braces and long straight tension braces. The building has three framed bays and is one storey with an attic.

There is an off-centre brick ridge stack on the left and an integral brick end stack on the right. A large 17th-century timber-framed dormer is located off-centre to the right, featuring V-struts in the gable and a 20th-century four-light diamond-leaded casement. To the left, there is a smaller gabled dormer with a 20th-century two-light diamond-leaded casement. The front of the house has four windows, including one-, two-, and three-light diamond-leaded wooden casements.

The left gable end has 20th-century boarding and a one-storey rendered lean-to with an integral brick stack. The right gable end displays a collar and tie-beam truss with queen struts and V-struts. The entrance is located at the rear. Inside, the cross walls are square-panelled timber framed, and the ceiling beams are chamfered with run-out stops. The right-hand room features a large open fireplace with a chamfered wooden lintel and reveals with ogee stops, while there is a winder stair at the rear of the right-hand stack. The left-hand ground-floor room contains a 17th-century fireplace. The slight irregularity in the framing indicates that the left-hand bay is a later 17th-century addition.
