Description
The farm buildings located approximately 10 metres to the north and west of Leasowes Farmhouse comprise a barn, cowhouses, stable, cartshed, and granary. They date from the 17th century, with additions from the 18th century, mid-19th century, and late 19th century. The buildings form a large L-plan and consist of nine framed bays with various extensions. The barn and cowhouses are weatherboarded and timber-framed, topped with corrugated iron roofs. The southwest section features coursed limestone rubble additions with a partly stone slate roof, while the late 19th-century cartshed and granary to the east have timber framing, brick nogging on the first floor, and a slate roof. The structures are one and two storeys high.
The north range has a south front with five boarded loft doors, four ground-floor boarded doors alternating with windows, and a pair of large boarded barn doors to the left. To the right is a two-bay cartshed, with a granary above that has a boarded door to the left. The west range's east front includes a timber-framed section on the right featuring a 19th-century gabled loft dormer with a boarded loft door, a ground floor two-leaf boarded door, and a window to the left, along with a pair of boarded doors to the right. The stone section on the left has a two-leaf boarded door, and the left gable end includes a boarded loft door and six tiers of pigeon nesting-holes.
Inside, the roofs are supported by two pairs of purlins, with 17th-century double-collar and tie-beam trusses featuring queen struts, along with 18th-century and later tie-beam trusses with raking queen struts. The cowhouses contain stalls from the late 18th or 19th century. Leasowes Farmhouse itself is not included in this listing.
