Description

The font, located approximately 2 meters west of the porch of the Church of St. Mary, is likely from the 12th century. It has a crudely carved octagonal tub shape with a hole in the basin. The base features zig-zag decoration, and the rim has a Greek palindromic inscription that is largely illegible but is known to translate to "CLEANSE YOUR SIN, NOT YOUR FACE ONLY." In the early 20th century, the font was situated in the grounds of The Nursery in West Felton but was previously located inside the Church of St. Mary.
