Description

This is a circular font, likely dating to the 13th century. It is constructed of stone and features a bowl shaped like a cup, set upon a moulded base. The font now stands on a modern plinth made of rubble stone and bears a plaque identifying it as likely being from the 12th to 13th centuries, with its original location unknown. It was moved to its current position from the garden of the Old Vicarage. The font has group value as a significant historical artifact associated with St Mary’s Parish Church.
