Description

The font, located adjacent to the south porch of the Church of St. Mary, is likely from the late 15th century. It is made from a single block of sandstone and features an octagonal bowl and stem. The base is also octagonal but has alternating long and shorter sides. This font originated from the medieval church in Whorlton, which was demolished around 1848.
