Description
Nos. 3, 4, and 5 Market Street are three houses that have been converted into two shops. They were built in the mid-18th century and are constructed of brick. The roof is not visible due to the parapet eaves. The building was constructed in two distinct phases. The right-hand section has four storeys and features a narrow two-window range. An inserted shop front extends across the neighbouring building. Above, there are 12-pane sash windows with flat-arched stuccoed heads, and casement windows in the attic storey. The eaves cornice is moulded in stucco. The adjacent building was originally two dwellings and also has four storeys, with a four-window range that includes two- and four-pane sash windows with flat-arched stuccoed heads above inserted shop fronts. The left-hand shop front dates from the early 20th century and has a central door with a plain fascia above. The building features parapet eaves and has gable and axial stacks.
