Description

This milestone, located approximately 180 metres north of Wootton House, dates from the mid to late 19th century. It is made of white painted stone with a black base and lettering, featuring a rounded top. The top is lettered with "MILES" in a radial arrangement, and it indicates distances to various locations: "B CASTLE 2/ CLUN 4/ KNIGHTON 11". The milestone was partly defaced at the time of the last survey in June 1984, but it remains an important part of a complete series of milestones.
