Description
This house, dating from 1908, was designed by Sir Ernest Newton and is now divided into three flats. It is constructed of painted roughcast render with simple painted wooden casement windows, featuring leaded lights. The roof is covered in plain tiles with deep, overhanging eaves, and gables adorned with painted bargeboards detailed with dentils. Brick end stacks and a central ridge stack are present, with the upper parts of the stacks featuring diagonally set brickwork. The building follows an elongated H-shaped plan.
The north-west front has projecting wings with hipped roofs, and a central projecting gabled bay. A four-light casement window is placed in the central gable, which projects over the entrance doorway. The doorway itself is supported on wooden posts with an arched opening, featuring a wooden doorcase with side lights and a panelled door displaying the ornamental date "1908". The flanking walls at the first floor have four-light casements, while ground-level alterations have been made. The return walls of the projecting wings feature two and three-light casements.
The south-east rear elevation is similar, but the projecting wings are gabled with shallow, polygonal flat-roofed window bays tiered over two storeys. The date "1908" and the initial "Q" are cast in a diamond pattern into the render of each gable wing. A string course runs at each gable attic floor level, with dentil ornament on the gable wings.
The interior has been significantly altered due to its division into three separate occupancies. A large terraced garden extends on the south side, enclosed by a brick balustrade.
