Description

Elsich Manor is a manor house dating from the 16th century and later. It is constructed of dressed and sandstone rubble with a plain tile roof, featuring composition tiles at the rear. The building has two massive brick external stacks, reduced to the left, and three diagonally set 20th-century brick chimneys to the right. The plan is E-shaped, with an advanced wing to the right.

The manor has two storeys and an attic, with irregular fenestration primarily consisting of 19th-century wooden two-light mullioned windows with chamfered oak cases. There are string bands and a central gable that features a stepped four-light mullioned window with metal lattice glazing set in chamfered plastered brick surrounds. The doors to the left and centre right are studded plank doors set in ashlar panels with string bands above. The right wing, added later, is made of stone rubble and has a plain tile roof, with two two-light mullioned windows featuring lattice metal glazing above a similar mullioned window and a studded plank door.

At the rear, there are twin gable wings and a smaller gable, with various lattice-glazed lights featuring plastered brick mullions and casements. A plank door in a chamfered case is located to the centre left, topped with a brick and stone hood. The rear wing has a rubble stack base with three diagonally set 19th-century brick stacks.

Inside, the south-east wing was badly damaged by fire in 1976 but still retains some features, including two fireplaces with stone lintels, 17th and 19th-century panelling, a stone arch from a former entrance, a chamfered ceiling beam, a blocked fireplace, panelled doors, a wall cupboard, 19th-century fireplaces, pierced splat balusters, and winder stairs.
