Description
This is a barn located about 70 yards east of Lower Jury Farmhouse, likely built in the 17th century, with "WP 1716" marked on a tie-beam. It features a timber-frame structure, weatherboards, and brick, topped with a corrugated iron roof. The barn has a five-bay timber-framed section that runs roughly north to south, with a two-bay brick range extending westward from the center bay. The west elevation showcases a large central brick gable that includes five rows of vent slits, with a weatherboarded section to the right and a breeze block lean-to (not included in the listing) covering the left part. The frame of the main range consists of three square panels high from the cill to the wall-plate. Inside, the main range has collar trusses with V-struts and either one or three posts connecting the ties to the collars; the truss of the projecting wing has two posts from the tie to the collar. The threshing floor was previously located in the center bay of the north/south section. The date likely refers to a repair, and the barn is noted as an interesting example of a dated structure.
