Description
This granary and animal house, located approximately 10 meters north of Mainoaks, dates back to the 17th century and has been altered over time. It is constructed from coursed square sandstone rubble with ashlar dressings and features a slate roof. The building consists of two bays aligned north to south, with an additional slightly later two bays to the south, where a central stone wall used to be the end wall.
The structure is two storeys high and has three windows on the south side, above which are steps leading up to a square-headed doorway. The two southern bays contain two 2-light stone mullioned windows, while the south gable features a similar window and steps leading up to an elliptical-arched doorway, which has a large cambered head on the ground floor. The upper section of the south part is supported by a cruck truss, while the north section has a later inserted interrupted tie-beam truss. The north section is partly obscured by a cow house, which is not included in this listing.
