Description
Court Farmhouse and the adjoining barn date back to the 14th century, according to the Royal Commission on the Historical Monuments of England, but they were extensively remodeled in the late 16th or early 17th century and again in the late 18th century, with some alterations in the 20th century. The farmhouse is built from sandstone rubble and has a Welsh slate roof, while the barn has a corrugated metal roof. The house is aligned east to west and was extended to the east during the 18th century. It features an east gable-end stack and a main axial stack located west of the center, with the entrance positioned east of the center. The adjoining barn, which has a four-bay design, includes a threshing floor entrance located west of the center. The farmhouse is two storeys high. On the south front, there are four windows: two 3-light glazing bar casement windows with segmental heads on the left, and a similar 2-light and 3-light window on the right. There is a forward projecting gabled porch with an inner ledged door, and loop vents flanking the entrance of the barn to the left. The interior has not been inspected but is noted to retain 16th-century ceiling beams and a 17th-century door.
