Description

Greenhill Cottage, shown on the Ordnance Survey map as Castle Cottage, is a house dating from around 1700, with some alterations made in the late 20th century. It is timber-framed with rendered infill, some areas of rendered refacing, and painted course sandstone rubble walling. The roof is machine-tiled with a brick ridge stack. The structure likely consists of three framed bays aligned north to south, with a chimney located between the southern end and the central bays. The cottage has two storeys, and the framing features three panels from the sill to the wall-plate, with no trusses visible externally.

All windows are 20th-century casements. On the east front elevation, there are two single-light windows and a three-light window on the ground floor, along with three two-light casements on the first floor. The main entrance, located in the northernmost bay, has a glazed 20th-century door. At the south end, there is a lean-to outshut with a half-glazed 20th-century door in the front elevation. The cottage is included for its group value.
