Description
The Brook is a farmhouse, now a house, that dates back to the 17th century, with alterations made in the late 19th and late 20th centuries. It features a timber-framed structure with rendered infill set on a rendered rubble base, along with a painted brick addition. The roof is slate, with a 19th-century chimney located to the north of the main ridge and another at the south ridge end of the south wing. The building consists of two framed bays aligned east to west and includes a large central chimney. It has two storeys, with the framing displaying two rows of square panels per storey. The north front elevation features a 2-light and a 3-light casement window on the ground floor, and a 3-light casement window on the first floor. The main entrance is located at the right end and includes a lean-to porch supported by timber posts, with a half-glazed door accessed by a flight of 20th-century brick steps. There is a late 19th-century south-east wing that has a 20th-century lean-to addition at the angle with the main range, as well as a lean-to addition at the west end.
